Carl Edwards ran his second race of the weekend on Sunday -- the Tums Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway. While he may be second in points on the Nationwide Series side, things aren’t as rosy for him in the Sprint Cup Series this year.
Edwards started Sunday’s race in the 29th position and worked his way toward the top-10, even making routine short-track contact with fellow-Nationwide Series championship competitor Kyle Busch.
According to Busch, Edwards bumped him and then flipped him off as he was going by.
The most detrimental contact in Edwards’ efforts came as he made contact with the wall and spun coming to take the white flag. He would end up finishing the race in the 20th position.
Edwards did maintain his 10th spot in the points standings despite his finish, but he now finds himself 413 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson.
