The King of Pop is now the King of the Box Office.

“Michael Jackson’s This Is It” raked in over $101 million over a period of just five days, making the number one movie at the box office this weekend and the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

Domestically ‘This Is It’ grossed over $32.5 million, while it made over $68.5 million internationally. These totals effortlessly dethroned the “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert” movie, which has a lifetime worldwide haul of $71 million.

Due to the film’s record breaking success Sony Pictures has now extended its planned two-week run in North America through November 29, Thanksgiving Day.

Kenny Ortega, one of the choreographers for the 'This Is It' shows, who also worked with Jackson on the 'HIStory' and 'Dangerous' tours, and directed the 'This Is It' film said of it's success, "Michael had filmmaking in his future. So I'm just glad that this film, even though he didn't get to have that experience, has in fact made him a movie star."

“Michael Jackson’s This Is It” chronicles the King of Pop’s rehearsals for his sold-out 50-date residency titled “This Is It” that was set to begin in July at London’s 02 Arena. Sony paid AEG Live $60 million for more than 100 hours of footage from which the film is comprised.

This isn’t the first time Michael Jackson has broken records in connection with ‘This Is It’. In March of this year the King of Pop gave a press conference that was broadcast worldwide to announce that he would mount a series of live shows at London’s 02 Arena titled “This Is It’, following the press conference ‘This Is It’ set the record for the fastest ticket sales in history.
