Relief is needed immediately for hundreds of children on the Baja peninsula of Mexico. Any boaters traveling south to Mexico should plan to pack onboard a box full of school supplies for the children who were touched by Hurricane Jimenez. On the night of October 30th, Baja Ha-Ha boaters should bring their donated items for Mexican schoolchildren to the Beach Party. These children are in need of the many supplies our little ones take for granted, such as lined paper, construction paper, scissors, crayons, pencils and pens.

The owners of s/v Andalucia, Steve and Edie Hollen, have friends that live and have a small business in Bahia Tortugas (Turtle Bay) and who supplied a list of needed items (click here for s/v Andalucia’s Web site to see the list).

The town mayor’s wife, Guillermina Jimenez, or Guille (pronounced "Geeyea") has offered to pick the items up at your boat if you want to do it that way. Otherwise, donations can be left at the mayor  Luis Alberto Felix’s office. It is very easy to find his office. The pier is an extension of the Main Street in town and his office is on Main Street up from the pier just past the stop sign, on the left. Please write “DIF” on the package.

During the Baja HA-HA Cruisers Beach Party on Friday, October 30th, a pop-up tent will be on the beach with a sign in Spanish that says "Donaciones para Las Escuelas de Bahia Tortugas."
