Where does the time go? One day you have a bouncing baby, seemingly the next day your little boy or daddy’s girl is walking, talking and throwing tantrums. Sometimes time seems to absolutely drag by, especially in those early days of 2 am feedings and around-the-clock diaper changes, but other times the hours pass at the speed of light. It is important that you pay attention to your child’s milestones, because as time marches on your little one will keep right on growing.

A great way to document changes in your child, obviously, is to take lots of pictures. Luckily, the Twin Cities boasts countless fabulous private portrait studios. Of course, many retailers like WalMart and Target also offer the services of skilled photographers who can provide a great experience for you and your children. Once you have pictures, you might want to consider scrapbooking them. Not only does this result in a fabulous keepsake, but it also gives you a non-child-related hobby and an outlet for some of your stress. In addition to being the home of many portrait studios, the metro is also full of craft stores like Michaels, Archiver’s and JoAnn Fabrics carrying all the components of a great scrapbook. Most of these stores also provide classes to teach you techniques that give you the best result.

Granted, as a busy working mom who is also running a household, you probably don’t have too much spare time. That’s okay – you can make albums and scrapbooks at your own pace. You might not have little Johnny’s first year done until his tenth birthday, but keep plugging away. The memories last forever, and in the end it will be worth every second you put into it.
