If you have not heard of Atlanta designer Crystal Harris just yet, you still have some time to get acquainted with her. Harris is the one woman force behind one of the hottest new brands out of Hotlanta, Nya Nya Couture. This former hairdresser's sculpted bustiers have already been featured in Upscale Magazine and her sassy chic dresses have been seen on celebrities D Woods formerly of Danity Kane and one of Atlanta's favorite housewives, Lisa Wu Hartwell. With several local fashion shows under her belt and a serious eye for fashion, Crystal Harris is well on her way to becoming a household name.
After working as a hair stylist in the Atlanta area, Harris put down her Marcel irons and sat down at her sewing machine to seek a new outlet for her creative energy. Inspired by fashion, culture, music and history, Harris set out to design the kinds of things she had trouble finding for herself, namely cute tops were versatile. Ultimately her knowledge of textures, love of vibrant colors, and inherent edgy sensibility have come to create her signature "urban glamour look" seen in her collection, which is named fer her daughter Nyah. Her line features sexy architecturally inspired bustiers, chic dresses, hand knitted sweaters, tees, outerwear, and a now expanding line of plus-sized fashion.

This month Harris is putting shifting into high gear and preparing for her 3rd annual fashion show, taking place on December 3, 2009 at 595 North from 7:30pm-9pm. The show will be the debut of Nya Nya Couture's "Love Me" collection and will benefit the Atlanta based Vidi Foundation for victims of domestic violence. This high profile event is invite only and will feature some of our city's most fashionable partners against domestic violence in the front row. For more information on the event, including ticketing and information on participating as s sponsor or volunteer email nyanyacouture@yahoo.com.
In addition to her upcoming show, Harris has her heart set on the Holy Grail of fashion, showing during New York Fashion Week, a feat that may be accomplished sooner than one thinks, given her talent and drive. She also has her eye on getting one of her bustiers on a certain curvy celebutante that graced the cover of September's issue of Jezebel Magazine.
Crystal Harris is definitely one to watch Atlanta, but don't take my word for it.
