Black Friday is only a few short weeks away. Many of us are making our lists, checking them twice and have no idea what to buy. After hours of searching and coming up empty, you come upon the fragrance counter. That perfume gift set is sitting there, staring you down, saying, " Time is running out, I'm your last hope, buy me, buy me!". But you don't have to feel like you failed.
The Christmas season is synonymous with fragrances. Sales of fragrances are highest during the winter holidays, followed by Valentine's and Mother's Day. Around October, we start to see the counters piled high with gift sets and gifts with purchase. This is actually the best time of year to buy your favorite fragrances. Every brand offers gift sets that usually include a body lotion or shower gel, often for the price of the single bottle alone. Some higher priced fragrances sometimes offer smaller , affordable sizes this time of year. And let's not forget, the free gift with purchase! After stocking up for yourself, you can look for gifts.
It is probably not a good idea to buy someone a fragrance if you don't know if they like it or not. However, if you know your best friend or mother likes a certain perfume, you can buy the lotion, soap or candle instead of just buying the bottle they might already have. If you want to give your recipient some autonomy, try the fragrance samplers from Sephora. For $50, you receive a kit with twelve samples and a voucher. After you test the samples, you can bring in the voucher for a full sized bottle of your favorite. Sephora also has a collectors edition for $75 with seven samples to choose from. The vouchers are only redeemable for a bottle of choice from the samples in the kit.
You can get a jump on the holidays and experience new scents this Sunday at "Eau de Party" at Nordstrom. Guests will sample fragrances, enjoy light refreshments and get a special gift. Tickets for this event are $10. Please call the cosmetics department at Nordstrom in the Fashion Show Mall to reserve your ticket.
