If you find yourself briefly between flights at the Singapore Airport, head for the departure lounge at Terminal 3. You’ll find one of Brewerkz brewpubs offering quite a selection, similar to what you might expect in popular brewpubs throughout the USA. If you’re lucky enough to have a few nights in this city head immediately over to Brewerkz at 30 Merchant Road #01-05/06 Riverside Point. At any one time the draft selection will feature 12 house brewed beers on draft and a menu of food that will you’re your beer company during your stay.
During my visit their award winning dry hopped Hopback Ale was my favorite. Similar to a British session bitter but with a healthy dose of Kent Golding hops I settled in and watched the riverside boat traffic a mere 50 feet away. My beer nuts wife, Sandra loved the full flavored and spectacularly authentic Oatmeal Stout. If I had ten more heads I would have enjoyed continued sampling of Golden Ale, Wheat beer, Pilsener, Steam Beer, Amber Wheat, Darkside Lager, India Pale Ale, Fruitbrewz (raspberry), Ye Olde Ale and Xtra IPA.

Brewmaster, Scott Robertson is a Canadian from Regina, Saskatchewan. Scott took on the job over ten years ago. He’s glad to have found Brewerkz and Singaporeans are glad to have found Scott. Assistant brewer, Singaporean Kim Wong took up the challenge of learning brewing under Scott’s tutelage and is a valued member of the brew team. There are several other assistants, several from the USA who serve time at Brewerkz. Their enthusiasm for great beer is contagious. They’ve helped cultivate a city wide beer culture among other resident pro brewers, homebrewers and beer enthusiasts. Photo: Brewmaster Scott Robertson and Asst. Brewster Kim Wong
Masterbrewer Fal Allen got his start at the Pike Brewing Co. in Seattle before moving on to Anderson Valley Brewing Co in Boonville, California. He’s now been the masterbrewer at Singapore’s Archipelago Brewery for at least three years now.
