Jerry Rice surprises Taylor Lautner on the Jay Leno Show

Twilight fans tuned in tonight to see “New Moon” star Taylor Lautner, but it was Lautner himself who got the biggest thrill from a surprise visit from football legend Jerry Rice. In a segment called “Earn Your Plug,” Jay Leno explained to Lautner that he had to earn the right to show his exclusive clip of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” Earlier in the interview with Leno, Taylor Lautner explained that he was a big football fan, and especially loved Brett Farve, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana. With perfect timing, Jerry Rice walked onto the stage to toss around the football with Lautner. Taylor’s passes and catches were perfect, and Jay presented the Twilight star with an autographed football signed by Jerry Rice.
In other news, Taylor Lautner explained that the “New Moon” cast mates liked to hang out at a senior citizens’ bowling alley while filming in Vancouver. He explained that the alley had tiny balls and only five pins. While the cast did indeed make friends with the older bowlers, some complained about the noise, so they often had to keep in down. Lautner said they were limited to where they could go without getting mobbed after filming 12-14 hour days.
Jay Leno also asked Taylor Lautner about his most embarrassing moment with an adoring fan. Lautner said it came not from a young fan, but when her mother asked him to sign her Team Taylor panties. While the teen remained cool, security eventually had to lead the mother away from the autograph session. Leno then went about embarrassing Lautner by showing a picture of him from the Mickey Mouse Club, on which he appeared in his younger days.
Taylor also talked about “The Twilight Saga: New Moon," and said there was a lot more going on in the new film. His character Jacob leads Bella out of a depression, and the two develop a relationship. Twilight fans excitedly await the nationwide release of New Moon on November 20th.
