Annie at Beef and Boards
The musical Annie opened last Friday at Beef and Boards to a house full of enthusiastic theatregoers. With music by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse, and Martin Charnin, the cast gave a lively performance and was in good voice for the entire night. Lead by young Kara Oates in the title role, the performers sang and danced their way through several familiar songs and provided many good laughs. The group of orphans really sounded terrific during all their numbers, with all the songs sounding better than expected from such a young group of performers. Highlights included the song "Tomorrow" and Kara Oates as Annie, Ty Stover as Daddy Warbucks, and Jeff Stockwell as an engaged Rooster.
As always, Beef and Boards had a fine buffet and a terrific waitstaff.
