The Buck Creek Players are auctioning off a starring role in their production of the musical The Sound of Music, for the performances of August 7-8-9, as a part of their 2009 BDP Play-A-Part fundraiser.

All the main roles are up for bid. For more information, see the Buck Creek Players website.

The auction begins May 29 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on June 14.

The Sound of Music premiered on Broadway in 1959 starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bickle, and was followed by the hugely popular movie version which won 5 Oscars. The sonds "Edelweiss," "The Sounds of Music," "My Favorite Things," and "Do-Re-Mi." FYI- While "Edelweiss" sounds like it could be a popular traditional folk German-Swiss-Austrian tune, it was in fact written specifically for The Sound of Music.
