Conservative radio and television talk-show host Glenn Beck unveiled a plan on Saturday November 21, 2009, to bring America back under the control of the American people. He spoke for a little over 45 minutes to almost 35,000 thousand supporters, at a rally in The Villages in Florida, outside Orlando. His final plan will not be revealed until it is completed in January 2010.
During Beck's radio broadcast on Friday, he gave some insight into his rally speech when he announced,
We are going to outline the beginning sketch of how we are going to educate ourselves, how we are going to network with each other, how we are going to register people to vote, how we make sure we are going to take control of our own lives and our own communities, how we are going to take our country back."
Beck referred to a bumper-sticker slogan as his mantra for change, which reads, "When the people lead the leaders will follow."
Talking points of the rally were relayed through Twitter and the Saint Petersblog, and covered plans to have rallys across the country—the first one will be held in Orlando, and the final rally will be at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 2010. Conservative speakers will be featured for the educational talks, that Beck said will last most of the day and teach Americans self reliance and how to become community organizers. Beck also told the American people to pay off their debt, attend church and then told them, "examine yourself, be spiritually sound, dedicate to education, and if you care about your children, you will watch Fox news."
The week leading up to the rally in Florida, Beck spoke of the need of every American citizen to stand up for limited government and return to the basics of the constitution. And people are listening. His radio show attracts nine million listeners each week, and his latest book, Arguing With Idiots, attained the number four spot on the New York Times Best-Seller List, on Friday, November 20, 2009. Beck's popular television show can be seen at 5:00 p.m. EST weekdays on Fox.
Beck's letter to politicians, which lays out his grievances, can be found on the Fox Website.
The Monday radio show transcript, which outlines his plan, is available here.
In the following video, Beck announces his reasons behind the changes to come.
