Who would of thought that the first domestic old school pony car I'd do a builder profile on would be from Kyoto, Japan.
In a sea of custom cars this Camaro stand's out . Owner Akira Yamamoto along with Hot Style Customs director Toshiki Oka , are the ones responsible for this masterpiece. Which begin with Akira enlisting Mr.Oka to handle interior duty's on his 67' Camaro and to work with him though all phase's of the build.
Next he got Mr . Shimoda from Universal Air to handle the classis and air suspension duty's. To get the large wheels that Akira had planned for the car to tuck under the stock fenders Mr. Shimoda had custom build the air ride set-up to work on the uni-body frame. Because of the large wheels the aftermarket frame was not a option for this build like on most bagged Camaro of this body type. And with a little trial and error they were able to make it work.
For the Paint and custom grille work he had Mr. Matsuura handle the job with sample instructions red base color and flames. Mr .Matsuura did a fabulous job of making the red not to candy and adding flames without it taking over the overall vision Akira had for his Camaro.
This all started when he saw his first Camaro at age 18 it would not be till he was 31 years old that he was in the position to got his dream car to build. Akira says he did not build his creation for it to be famous. It's his creation and if you like it he appreciate's it and thank you very much.
His dream was to build his Camaro with a blower and large rims , lowered custom mini- truck style with the beautiful look of a lowrider than get it to SEMA have a beer at the show and just look at her. Well Akira mission accomplished and job well done.
