
The Susan B. Komen 3 day walk began today at the Freestone Park in Gilbert, Arizona. Eighty-five percent of the net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Day will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. http://ww5.komen.org/ Fifteen percent of the net proceeds will benefit the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. http://www.nptrust.org/about_npt/special_projects.asp
Public cheering stations will be set up along the 60 mile route in order to applaud and encourage the walkers. The weather today was a balmy 74 degrees which made it pleasant for the walkers to begin their first 20 miles. The forecast for Saturday is expected to be 72 degrees and Sunday the projected temperature is 69 degrees for the closing Ceremony.
