There is a beautifully written albeit fraudulent article circulating the web about cancer prevention and cure that is credited to Johns Hopkins University.
I am not including the article because much of it is based on junk nutrition and urban legend. If you recieve an email under this title, Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins understand that Johns Hopkins had nothing to do with generating this swill.
If you are batteling cancer follow your Doctor's lead and if you want to expand yourself and your options do it with open communications with your physican and the practicioner of what ever alturnitive resources you seek.
I concede that diet is an important feature to achieving and protecting good health but while food can at once be nutriant and pharmicuticle, look to food as a way to prevent illness not cure it.
While our instincts tell us the natural way is the best way, the reality is that the natural way takes effort. The natural way takes daily commitment. The way the bogus email reads it is obvious that the writer was driven by cause and effect, like eating the perfect meal will cure you. Food can be at once nutrient and medicine. BUT food can not cure anything. Your body can rid itself of interlopers and this understanding is sited in the email but then the thing starts to leak. When a person finds that they are confronted with medicine it is because they need to be rescued and rescue is the best feature of modern medicine. This is why we practice our Ayurveda (Traditional Indian Medicine) as a lifestyle and when we have clients come to us who are in the medical system because they have had a system fail, we work with the medical model to help the person's body get the most out of it.
Some points to consider:
The best way to protect yourself from illness is to eat from the latest nutrition pyramid, understand that a serving of fruit is about the size of your closed hand or slightly smaller so it is actually easy to get the servings suggested. Fruit is mightier than fruit juice. Meat does not putrefy in your intestines unless you have profound trouble elsewhere or you eat nothing but white flour and processed grains. A good bowl of salad can whisk you nicely.
Sugar is not a fiend; it is the only thing your brain runs on. All the "natural" sweeteners you are hearing about are processed unless you are deliberately getting them in their lowest form. Honey is not the most superior of sweet sources. Agave has one of the best glycemic loads of all sweeteners; it is available in raw syrup at health food stores. Stevia, a South American herb, is getting a lot of press right now, and in its leafy form it lives up to all the claims, but as it is processed it become its base ingredients and it is just another processed sweetener.
There is not an infomercial nutrition program on the TV that is not a scam. Most of the stuff is a rehash of the misinformation that was started by Dr. Kellogg at the turn of the 20th century. He was a big food processor; he needed to develop a market. There were no truth in advertising laws then and so he conditioned an entire culture to believe that their bowels were somehow inefficient in design and function. Since the FDA does not have jurisdiction in food claims and most of the junk that is being hucked on TV is a "Food Supplement" you are out there alone.
Hydroxycut is a food supplement and was pulled in a voluntary recall because it causes liver damage. The risks are real.
If you are looking for a credible resource for nutrition and a resource to better understand the function of your body and digestion, I suggest
Total Nutrition from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

They are discovering drawbacks to the process but it is likely, since they are driven by the medical model, that their corrective devices will be in adjusting the way they use the chemicals or the chemistry of the chemotherapy. To have them go low tech like the email states is not likely.
