If you're ready to buy a house and you're looking for a real estate agent to help you (also known as a buyer's agent or buy-side agent), here is a list of top 10 things to look for in finding a buyer's agent:
.) Does agent have broker's license or real estate license?
.) How many years experience does the agent have?
.) What are the charges and commission?
.) Can the agent furnish references from previous clients?
.) What kinds of services does the agent provide?
.) Does the agent consider all homes to buy (FSBO, short sales, bank-owned properties, Make Me Move homes) or just traditional listings?
.) How responsive is the agent? How do they communicate? (i.e., e-mail, cell phone, text mail).
.) How tech-savvy is the agent?
.) How many houses did the agent help buy for clients in the past 6 months?
.) Can the agent help you find a quality lender to get pre-approved?
These questions will help you vet agents and some were taken from this discussion thread "I need help to create Checklist for finding good buyer agent" which is on Zillow Advice.
