UFOs are spotted randomly all across our country on a daily basis - but what's happening near you?

To check out the raw, incoming reports - you can search the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database. Just give the database screen a start and stop date - and then select your state from the drop-down menu.

Want to get a little closer? MUFON is organized by state - and some states have their own web site. There are currently 20 web sites in the MUFON network that service 25 states (the New England MUFON site represents the six New England states.)

UFO Examiner recently completed a survey of all MUFON state web sites to see what's out there. A handy reference index was organized so that you can get to your state site quickly - or go directly to pages that offer follow-ups to specific UFO cases that were investigated.

Many states do not have web sites - so the referring link is a mufon.com web page with their basic contact information. Those states that do have web sites generally provide contact information and news about upcoming events. If you're looking for those states that provide updates to their UFO investigations, check out those web sites highlighted in yellow. Other highlights are listed in the notes section.

My favorite MUFON state web site is Oregon - very well organized with easy navigation - and they offer pages for UFO CasesUFO News, UFO Stories, Oregon UFO History - and a variety of other interesting reading options. Indiana MUFON is a close second, with a home page that offers up both news and stories. Their Indiana Reports Index is updated through the end of 2008. They also feature a few other reading options that you'll enjoy, including the North-Central Indiana Flap of 2004. Georgia MUFON is my third pick, with current cases and their updates; and who’s assigned to cases - right on the home page. South Carolina seems right on track with their 2008 Sightings Page and other research features - so we expect to see the 2009 reports coming in soon.

Arkansas has an investigations page - although we have high hopes that they will bring it up to date. Illinois MUFON is off to a good start with a Featured Sightings page - which details 10 cases - and we hope they continue to feature more stories.

Most recently updated to a new look is the New England MUFON site and the Pennsylvania MUFON site - both with new architecture that we hope inspires follow-ups to their state UFO investigations.

UFO Examiner will continue to track state web sites and keep you up-to-date on what's happening around the country.
