Two cases of orange lights in the sky were reported in Texas on March 5. Two witnesses five miles north of Rising Star, Eastland County, reported a series of orange lights - appearing and disappearing, sometimes blinking. In a second report, a witness from Abilene, Taylor County, reported a similar series of orange lights appearing in a row format like the Phoenix Lights case - where one light turns on, then a second, then a third, and so forth.
This pattern of lights has been reported in many other cases. See the links to previous stories following the reports.
In MO today, reports of a bright light hovering in the sky came in from two different witnesses.
Following are the unedited reports filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database.
TX - March 5, 2009 - Orange lights appear then disappear and reappear
My husband and I were sitting on our porch 5 miles north of Rising Star Texas watching the stars when an orange light appeared about 20 degrees off the horizon southwest of us. It shone for about 5 seconds, then disappeared and reappeared a short distance from where we first saw it. It then disappeared, and about 1 minute later we saw three lights close together south of where the other lights had been. It also shone about 5 seconds, then disappeared. About 5 minutes later we saw a series of twelve lights that appeared in sequence, each one blinking a split second from northwest to southeast angling down at 30 degrees and covered a distance of a mile and a half. That whole occurance lasted about 5 seconds. About 5 minutes later, we saw a series of 7 lights that blinked in sequence, but those were farther apart than the series of 12. They were north of where we saw the series of 12, and were moving from south to north on a horizontal plane.
My husband is a private pilot, and is very familiar with aircraft lights and patterns of movement. He has seen mysterious lights similar to these from our house several times before, but this was my first sighting.
TX - March 5 - Same lights from the last time
Saw the orange lights I saw last time here on Jan 30th 2009. Except this time it appeared in a row and in a diaganle (spelling) line ...it was orange and red ..first time it came on as 1 orange light then a row of 5. Then 5 minutes later it blinked on as 1 light then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 this time it was spaced out ..reminded of the lights in Phoenix. They didn't stay on for more than a 2-3 seconds each time.
On March 2, we previously reported on a case where a series of white lights in a row were reported over Texas.
TX - March 2, 2009 - Flashing row of white lights with a larger constant white light below the flashing lights.
Around 9pm I went out on the front porch of my house to bring in my dog. I looked to the east and saw these flashing white row of lights above the tree line. It caught my attention because there are no lights in this area. I have lived in this house for more that 15 years and know my surroundings very well. It was very dark outside with scattered clouds, and I could not make out a shape of this object. I continued to watch and observed that below the flashing row of lights there was a bright white light that was centered in the middle. This object was not moving, not making a sound, but the row of lights were constantly flashing. I wanted to go inside to get my camera, but I continued to watch for approximately 5 more minutes. Then I began hearing the sounds of jet aircraft approaching. That is when the lights just vanished. I waited for a few more minutes to see if the lights would return, but they never did. At no time did I feel frightened, but I really would like to see them again and figure out exactly what it was that I saw.

MO - March 5, 2009 - Bright Light hovered in western part of sky for over 45 Min before fading out
It was unseasonably warm nite and very clear skys tonite in KC. I had been doing a project in the driveway until dusk and wanted my wife to take me for a quick drive around our neighborhood to see a house in the west part of our subdivision. As we drove around the block I Noticed a bright light with glow above in sky and figured right off it was airplane but after 30 seconds or so noticed it was not moving at all. The airport was in general direction however after several minutes it was noticed that the light did not move , blink or display characteristics of an airplane due to the length of time it was stationary. I had a number of minutes to grab my video camera and took over 14 minutes of footage. I made call to friend who lives about 10 miles west of me directly to look out back of his home and he immediately noticed the bright light above. He was a pilot in the Army and had several years experience flying helicopters. He was clearly moved by what he was seeing and could not find a legitimate explanation as to the light. I would not be suprised if several people and pilots flying into to KCI did not clearly notice this in the sky. It was clearly in out atmosphere and not a planet, star, comet, or satellite. It just stuck around for a long time and glowed in the sky. During filming , in the view I had a few airplanes come into same view screen as to clearly distinguish this was not a plane as the ones flying across the screen were clearly airplanes. After several minutes I stopped filming as I started to second guess that this was "supposed" to be there like a bright star or something. Then as I talked with other neighbors I continued to glance at the object and noticed it seemed to get lower in the horizon and fainter until it over about 2 minutes just faded out heading west. The weird thing is that if it was a star or planet or plane it just sat stationary in the sky for almost an hour before disappearing.
I have video of the event but currently my camera battery is down. Will be glad to share it or upload at another time. Approx 14 mins of footage.
MO - March 5, 2009 - Bright Stationary light naked eye, telescope blimp shped object on fire with light at end
My friends and I had my 8' dobsonian telescope out trying to do some star gazing. There were too many clouds to really see any stars so we decided to just sit around talking. We noticed a light in the southern skies that looked from the naked eye much like Venus. As an amateur astronomer I knew it couldn't be Venus. So I moved my telescope to the object, looking through it, it appeared as a strange teardrop shaped object with something hanging from the end of it. The teardrop shape was obviously on fire, you could see what appeared to flames covering the teardrop shaped part of the craft. It also looked as if from the teardrop shape extending downward was a very faint line of some sort with a solid red light attached to it. After looking at it for about 20-25 seconds while it was stationary it began to rapidly move away, I followed for about 3 seconds with the telescope and lost it, followed with the naked eye for about another 7 seconds before it completely dissapered. Planes could be seen in the area about 15 minutes after the incident, and this object was obviously not a plane.
