The USA Masters 5KM Championships will take place at the Syracuse Festival of Races.  The men start at 9:00 and women start at 9:45.  Race Results and details can be found at:  http://www.festivalofraces.com/

The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon will host the USA Women’s Marathon Championship; the USA Master’s Marathon Championship and the USA Men’s 10-Mile Championship.  In the women’s marathon, competitors will be racing for a total purse of $72,500 and trying to finish by 2:46:00, which is the qualifying standard for the 2012 US Olympic Trials Marathon.  About 30 women who ran in the 2008 Olympic Trails Marathon will be participating. The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon is the only race in 2009 that can serve as a 2012 Olympic Trials qualifying race.  Four-time Olympian, Colleen de Reuck will lead both the women’s and master’s field.  Ohio runners participating in this year’s championship are:  Kara Storage; Tara Storage; Melissa Rittenhouse; Becki Ordway and Sarah Flament.  The USA Master’s Marathon Championship offers a total of $50,000 in prize money to the top male and female finishers.  The marathon starts at 8:00 a.m., local time.
 

The Men’s USA 10-mile Championship is also hosted by the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.  Leading the pack will be distance stars Abdi Abdirahman; Anthony Famiglietti and Jason Lehmkuhle .  Ohioan Josh Ordway will also be competing for a share of the $25,000 purse.  The race starts at 7:05 a.m., local time.
