Recently, Bill Clinton was interviewed by Dr. Sanjay Gupta who is the Chief Medical Correspondent for CNN. What was eye opening about the interview was that Bill Clinton apparently is thoroughly uneducated about what an embryo is and when it becomes an embryo. Video Below.
It just doesn't make sense! For someone who has been President of the U.S., has a child of his own, who has chosen people during his Presidency to advise him in these areas, as well as sign legislation in 1993 to fund and begin conducting human embryo experiments, to be this uninformed.
Clinton said Americans should support President Obama's decision to lift federal funding limits on the research if the embryos cannot "be fertilized and become little babies ."
Clinton also said that scientists must be careful to use only embryos that "have been placed beyond the pale of being fertilized before their use."
The issue of Embryonic Stem Cell Research is something that is of deep concern for many Christians. The Catholic church is against this research. Additionally, there have been many breakthroughs with (Adult Stem Cell Research), but not one breakthrough with Embryonic Stem Cell Research.
It was painfully obvious that Clinton did not know what he was talking about, and 'Sanjay Gupta' did not stop him and correct his errors.
Clinton was exhibiting support for Obama’s decision to go ahead with Human Stem Cell research. However in the video you will note just how uneducated an ‘ex-president’ can be about such a difficult and divisive issue.
One has to ask, are there more in our leadership in the Executive Branch and in Congress that have the same incorrect information on when a human egg becomes an embryo? If there are; then the next question would have to be ‘if they really knew the accurate information on what an embryo is, would it change their minds? I believe that it might.
Obviously, from the video, one would have to agree that Clinton does not know that an embryo is already a fertilized human egg, or at least did not at the time of the interview. The other obvious deduction from the video is that his attitude about a fertilized human egg would be ‘that he would not approve of this kind of research’.
The video speaks volumes about what he knows and does not know about this subject.
