If you shop the Farmers' Markets in the Seattle area, you'll see many farmers advertise their CSA program. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. In short, it is a way of supporting your local farmer by pre-paying (or promising to pay) for a set amount of produce. By pledging your support for a full or half share, you're guaranteeing that farmer a certain amount of income that he or she needs to continue operation.
There are more CSAs than days of the week here in Puget Sound, so how do you pick the right one? Well, the right CSA for you isn't necessarily the right CSA for anyone else. You need to investigate all of the options out there and pick a CSA for yourself.
