FiestaCon is here for sci fi and paranormal interests
It’s coming this week! FiestaCon will be the 62nd annual Westercon, the Western regional science fiction and fantasy convention for North America. This event will be held on JULY 2nd through JUL 5th 2009. Join them at the Tempe Mission Palms in downtown Tempe, Arizona were there is a variety of nearby restaurants, with easy access to the Phoenix Light Rail and a great view of the Tempe July 4th Fireworks.
FiestaCon is happy to announce that Aprilynne Pike, the author of the #1 New York Times Best selling novel, “Wings” (Harper Collins), for the YA market, will be attending. 
FiestaCon is proud to premier a new feature-length film “Starwatch” starring Carlos Gallardo (“El Mariachi”) and Oscar winner Silvia Suvadova (“Kolya”). Both actors will be on hand at the screening for questions.
Programming will feature many local and regional authors, artists, scientists, and paranormal experts. They will have a Masquerade, Art Show & Auction, Charity Auction, Writing Workshops, Dealers Room, Gaming, 1643 Minicon, and more. If you love the wide variety of programming on the SCI FI channel, you will marvel at the various venues and speakers at FiestaCon!

Debe Branning will be doing a class on DOWSING FOR SPIRITS. Dowsing is an ancient art of searching for hidden things (water, precious metals etc) by using our senses and a set of dowsing rods. More and more paranormal investigators are using dowsing rods as a conduit for communicating with those who have passed or residual energies of a haunting. This class will teach you how to make a basic set of dowsing rods, show simple methods of dowsing for spirits, and cemetery dowsing. A fun interactive class, you will get to try using dowsing rods and learn dowsing rod drills for skills and entertainment.

You can find fun audience-participation events such as Pictionary with our Guest Artist, Todd Lockwood, and others. You can help your team win at SciFi Jeopardy or learn how to belly-dance. Gamers will have a unique opportunity to attend a 2-hour GameMaster Workshop with Dennis McKiernan. There will be a midnight discussion of all things vampiric, steampunk literature and writers’ workshops.
Kids can learn how to draw their own Treasure Map and go on a Pirate Treasure Hunt. They’ll have the chance to walk thru the Art Show and learn how to look at art. Experts will talk about metaphysics including Making Your Own Magic, Past Lives and how to make your own Vision Board.
They will have Planetary Geologists from our state university who will inform and educate you on the Lunar Recon Orbiter, NASA’s planetary missions; and dazzle you with fabulous images from NASA’s Cassini Mission.
