Guns N' Roses has finally listed tour dates on its official web site, including a month-long run in South America.
The South America dates are March 10-April 10. The band also lists individual dates for Taiwan (Dec. 11), South Korea (Dec. 13) and Japan (Dec. 16, 19), as well as a listing for Canada of Jan. 13-Feb. 2.
Up until recently, the only news about tour dates was coming from concert promoters and other international web sites. The Guns N' Roses Facebook page began listing information about tour dates prior to the band's official site listings.
According to concert promoter web sites, the South American leg of the tour is expected to include dates in Brazil, Argentina, Buenos Aires, Peru, Venezuela and Chile. The last time the band played in South America was 2001's Rock in Rio festival. For much of the world, it was the first they had seen of the new version of Guns N' Roses.
Axl Rose addressed the new look of the band at the 2001 show:
"I know that many of you are disappointed that some of the people you came to know and love could not be with us here today. Regardless of what you have heard or read, people worked very hard (meaning my former friends) to do everything they could so that I could not be here today ... I am as hurt and disappointed as you that unlike Oasis, we could not find a way to all get along."
Since then, guitarists Buckethead, Robin Finck and Paul Tobias and drummer Brain, have been replaced by guitarists Richard Fortus, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and DJ Ashba, and drummer Frank Ferrer. Bassist Tommy Stinson and keyboard players Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman have remained in the band.
The upcoming tour will be the first for Guns N' Roses since the release of "Chinese Democracy" little more than a year ago (Nov. 23, 2008).
