Discount real estate brokers Redfin sends out a monthly email, showing the difference between the list price and the final price in 75 areas around the Greater D.C. area.

The average discount was roughly 2 percent, so something to keep in mind if you are out there making offers.

However, a lot of the Virginia markets were on the "good" list, where homes were selling ABOVE their list price, as much as 2.5 percent over.

Manassas Park, Woodbridge, Bristow, Centreville and Manassas were the five markets with the biggest mark ups, all just over 1.5 percent.

Great Falls and Mclean were the two markets that jump out from the "bad" list, with average discounts between 5.6 percent and 4.5 percent.
