Greetings and happy Monday. If you're a frugal geek like myself you probably read more than just one online frugal living publication. Today I am going to give some credit where credit is due. These are the writers who originally inspired me to begin my own frugal living blog. Of course I write about other topics. What kind of writer would I be if I didn't? Wait...don't answer that.
Anyways, frugal living was something that I thought I'd never write about. I was a materialistic woman before I lost everything...twice...in just two years. Life has a funny way of showing you what's really important. These events coupled with a need for saving money and a love for some other frugal writers is what caused me to take up the topic. Do I enjoy my life? Somewhat. Do I wish I had more money? Sure, I do! But I enjoy frugal living because it makes me feel like I am not only doing the earth some good but I am doing myself some good as well. Even if I had more money I think that I would still hold on to my current lifestyle, with a few necessary long-overdue improvements of course (such as a car and health insurance).
These are the people or publications I would like to thank:
Erin Huffstetler - I originally began reading her frugal living blog at about.com when I saw an app for it on my yahoo page. She has a love for living in a good ol' fashioned way. From foraging to canning fruits, this woman really knows how to live on the cheap.
Wise Bread - This is by far one of my favorite frugal living publications. While they occasionally post things that are outside of the topic of frugal living most of the writers are incredibly knowledgeable and their articles are 100% fluff-free. (Don't you just hate fluff?) For example, today I was reading one about how savings bonds are essentially interest earning traveler's checks. I really didn't know all of the practical uses that they have, until today.
Got a frugal living or financial publication that you love? Post it here!
