Jesse McCartney sings The National Anthem:or does he?
Over the years many celebs have had missteps with the National Anthem. Usually this song is done "A-Capella" meaning without accompaniment. It is a difficult song to sing with the various ranges. One has to wonder however, if anyone is teaching the meaning of the words. It should not be difficult to remember the National Anthem, if one is feeling patriotic and understands the meaning. In schools we used to sing it frequently and at every ball game. Is this video a sign that we are becoming less patriotic - or is it simply a person whose mind is not in their job as in past years?
This is not the first goof up of the National Anthem. Roseanne Barr will never be forgotten for her poor performance in 1990. Below are several more instances. Robert Goulet got in wrong with one word in 1965. Spotting problems has become a sporting event. Perhaps all events should give a test to potential singers to make sure they can do their job, just like the NFL does.
