This Sunday martial arts enthusiasts are in for a special treat. On November 1st, there will be day-long exhibition at Vallejo's Hogan High School highlighting the Balintawak Arnis style of Filipino Martial Arts. As Filipino-American National History Society president Mel Orpilla relates in the video that accompanies this blog posting, this is truly a rare opportunity. With roots in the Philippines, this martial arts form was developed in secret for political reasons. Now Filipino elders, such as Orpilla's father, want to share it with a much wider audience.

Should you be unable to attend this event , Grand Master Ver Villasin is teaching Balintawak Arnis at the Bayanihan Center inside Seafood City. Classes are held from 6 to 8PM every Tuesday, plus these selected dates of each month: first and second Fridays and 3rd and 4th Thursdays.
