Especially if your visit to Peru includes a stay in the city of Lima, where there is a growing fitness culture.
In the city of Lima, there is an area around the pentagon that has an active fitness culture. This area could be called a bicycle or jogging path that is about 3 miles long. As evidenced by the picture many people are often seen jogging, walking or bicycling around this bicycle path even at night. The casual observer was directed to this bicycle path in April of this year to go jogging, after asking about where to go exercising. The casual observer who is not a jogger by nature, decided to give this bicycle path a try and was surprised at how tiring, yet fulfilling this fitness session was. Many people young and old are often seen doing their own fitness routine in this area and yes this bicycle path can get crowded at times. There is also a place to near the bicycle path that has some simple exercise machines such as the stepper and various nautilus machines that can work the lower and upper body, which the casual observer didn’t partake in. On the weekends there is even an outdoor aerobics class that seems to draw large crowds. After about three days the casual observer was totally into this unique fitness culture and even lost some weight which is tough to do while eating Peru’s calorie rich foods, oh my those heavenly churros. In conclusion, even while vacationing abroad in a beautiful country such as Peru, there are many options for exercising, just ask or follow the locals, you will be surprised at what you may discover.
