Hurricane Ida now has winds of 100 mph, making it a Category 2 on the Saffir Simpson scale.  It gave a glancing blow to Cancun, slipping though Sunday morning and entering the Gulf of Mexico.  As of Sunday afternoon, Hurricane Watches are up for New Orleans to Mobile where it may make landfall.  While the storm is stronger than computer models have forecasted, it may have reached it's peak. Ida will now encounter cooler waters in the Gulf of Mexico, and will encounter strong upper level sheering winds.  The official forecast has Ida curving around the northeaster Gulf of Mexico, but is expected to hold on to Hurricane Strength when it makes landfall.
