Sea of Galilee -- Fresh water, suitable for drinking, but in short supply...

Here we are in the midst of a depression, which the goverment tells us is only a "recession." Doesn't that make you feel better about your own personal crisis, having government officials minimize your suffering? By U.S. standards, California is in really bad financial condition -- no jobs, or so few that it almost hurts to say, "Excuse me."

Anyway, just when you get depressed, you read articles from Israel where the daily life situation is far worse and they go ahead and do crazy things which are so cuckoo you just have to laugh... In case you were not aware of it, Israel is one of the few countries in the world today, where if you are a lunatic, you have to be certified. One of those little known facts...

Today's Israel National News reports that the water shortage has reached epidemic drought-like proportions there. The Israelis have been using desalinated water from the Dead Sea for years now, so they have just about drained it dry for drinking water and other purposes and rainfall has not been up to expectations...

What to do? No problem! Israel is now erecting "temporary" desalination plants to desalinate what body of water? Anything in particular in the neighborhood you can think of that they haven't already tried? Galilee? No, just about drained that. Red Sea? Been there, crossed that -- too much "foot traffic!" Can't think of any others?  No problem, they're using "temporary" desalination plants to de-salt the Mediterranean! It's the old kibbutz mentality -- "First, you have to drain the swamp!"  -- You have to laugh! And then, as if that is not enough, in another article, also in today's Israel National News: the Israeli Employment Service has gone on strike! Yes, they are the same people who are issuing the unemployment payments! They want more money and more help, of course! That alone has to cheer you up!

That's 'Food for Thought" for this week!
