Family Activities in Denver this Week

Kaiser Permanente is sponsoring a nighttime bike ride, The Moonlight Classic, on July 19 to raise money for Seniors, Inc., a non-profit which is dedicated to providing programs and services to seniors throughout Colorado. This should be a lot of fun -- there are costume contests, snack stands, and a chance to reel down the streets of downtown in the moonlight with a bunch of other bikers. There are two waves: one starts at 10:30 for families (and, presumably, those of us whose summer bike legs aren't quite up to spec yet) and the "Gonzo Wave" which starts at 11:30. The routes start at the Capitol, and go for either 8 or 15 miles, whichever you choose.

The entry fees are kind of steep -- $35 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $20 for children under twelve. Still, the money is for a good cause, and you get a t-shirt, goody bag, and a ticket to the Moonlight breakfast among other things. Anyway, it sounds like a lot of fun, and is the sort of thing your kids will remember for a long time to come. So look for a bike-compatible costume, hitch up your trailer, and enjoy a ride in the moonlight.
