This year more than ever, cats are at risk of relinquishment and abandonment due to the economic downturn. To help the situation, the East Bay SPCA-Oakland has teamed up with the makers of Fresh Step litter and 9Lives cat food to offer cat food and litter assistance to cat owners most in need. The effort is part of a national Cat Assistance Program co-sponsored by the ASPCA, Fresh Step and 9Lives.
On Saturday, November 14th, cat owners in need of assistance can visit the East Bay SPCA-Oakland and receive a free Cat Assistance Kit. The FREE kits will include a litter pan, litter scoop and cat toys along with free-product coupons for Fresh Step litter and 9Lives cat food. The Fresh Step coupons will provide up to 140,000 pounds of free Fresh Step litter and the 9Lives coupons will provide up to 31,500 pounds of free 9Lives cat food – all to support the Cat Assistance Program. One free kit will be given per household, while supplies last.
Ask the Vet: At the event, an “Ask the Vet” session also will take place during which time an East Bay SPCA veterinarian will offer free, one-on-one cat care consultations.
