The skipper - and chief seafood provisioner - of Ella's Pink Lady has been trolling unsuccessfully for days as she moved northward toward the equator.
Unsuccessful until today, that is, when she reports in her blog that she finally had a fish on the hook. Unfortunately, the good news didn't last long. Before she could bring the catch aboard another - apparently much bigger - fish came along and helped itself to Jessica's anticipated dinner.

Reporting in her blog today, she reports: " I'd love to tell you what it was, how big it was and how yummy it tasted, only someone (with rather big teeth!) got to it before me. Apart from a few bits of flesh left hanging on the lure, my beautiful fish had been gobbled up by something bigger. " The lure she holds in the picture above tells the story.
While she was watching for squalls last night, she was becalmed again and actually found her S&S 34 sailing backwards at one point. The wind has apparently picked up a bit today and she reports making headway again.
Based on the latest weather forecasts, she is expected to cross the equator on about November 18th.
