Former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, has been making the media rounds promoting her memoir, and I use that term loosely, Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate and Political Attacks. The book is the result of the former beauty queen’s response to her answer she gave at the Miss USA pageant last April when asked about gay marriage and the supposed beating she’s taken by liberals in the media for her answer. Recently, Prejean has come under attack for an explicit text she sent to her boyfriend when she was just 17 and said text found its way into the media. Through it all, Ms. Prejean has been playing the “victim card”. It’s hard for me to view her as a victim when this, whatever THIS is, is the best thing that’s ever happened to her. But does THIS warrant a memoir? Maya Angelou sharing her life’s work and stories in a book—yes that is memoir-worthy. A big-haired, 22-year old failed beauty queen with fake boobs (is there any other kind?) sharing her stories—not so much. Now, I do think Ms. Prejean may have received one too many fingers wagged in her face. After all, she was asked what she thought of gay marriage and she gave her answer, her opinion. If anything, she should be flogged for her make-believe phrase of “opposite marriage”. What?!?
