Americans believe that if you thank one soldier, you thank them all. The trick is to thank a soldier or sailor every day. Naturally, if Americans shake hands with soldiers and sailors all the time and take a second to put into words aloud to them how much they are appreciated, it will work. It does work.

With a great deal of appreciation for what our Military has done in the past, liberating suffering nations, bringing food to starving peoples, airlifting others to safety, we need to appreciate how they serve at this very hour and how they act today to protect our tomorrows. Some serve abroad, some serve at home, others wait for them with the light on or a yellow ribbon, and make good use of the fruits of their sacrifices and service in doing only what the electorate can do from here. The best way to thank those who serve is to be good custodians of our liberty. While our Military are keeping our nation free, it is up to us to keep it free at home.

Sometimes, that is as frightening as a soldier’s duty abroad.

Generations ago, we broke the chains of tyranny by defeating abuses of powers. Our Founders who defeated this always knew that our sovereignty would be challenged more by our own servants than by any foreign power.

Name the issue; it’s covered now or about to be covered in a major difference of opinion between the servants and the sovereign. Soldiers and sailors do not serve and die only for their loved ones at home to be at the mercy of servants more with every passing day, and a great deal of inspiration for just this is circulating not only around the country, but around the globe this Independence Day. The world is watching to see how we celebrate and what we celebrate.

Will we be independent this time next year?

It is the people who have the monopoly on all lethal force in this country, including oversight of law enforcement and of the Military. Our servants’ authority is for the life of their service to us and is only temporary; it resides purely with the office, not the officials. The nature of the relationship is that we do not take orders from Congress, Congress takes orders from us, and Independence has positively no meaning beyond an illusion if we do not affirm this beyond question.

Independence really means little if one is not independent of their own servants.

Happy Independence Day.

Liberty.
