Vienna is the home of beautiful music, art, and Mozart. Walking down you will see a wall of horse drawn carriages lining the perimeter of St. Stephen’s cathedral. If you take a left into the alleyway leading to Domgasse (the street’s name), you’ll stumble upon the Mozarthaus. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s apartment has been turned into a very enjoyable museum where you can purchase a ticket (audio tour included) for 9 Euro, 7 for students, elders, and kids. You can walk through the tour at your own pace to view original clothing, manuscripts, including one with a note Mozart wrote to one of his students in English, and various other possessions that help to illustrate the inner workings and scandals of “Wolfie’s” life. This is Mozart’s only apartment in Vienna that has been preserved. The entire apartment has maintained the exact structure since Mozart dwelled inside, except for a few safety adjustments (e.g. the railing along the 3-story staircase has been heightened since the time that Mozart lived there due to the average human growing in height and safety regulation standards acting in accordance.) The magic of the Mozarthaus does not only come from the mind of one of the greatest composers of classical music, but from the preserved setting in which we can view an older, different yet peculiarly similar to modern time culture of Vienna.
