With the exception of Bronson Arroyo, it is likely there will be more buzz about former Cincinnati Reds players than current ones at this year's Redsfest.
Tickets for Redsfest went on sale today.
In announcing the event last week, the Reds provided no information about individuals in attendance for the fan event, being held Dec. 4 and 5 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. However, in information provided today, the team listed current and former players, coaches and broadcasters confirmed for this year's event.
Planned appearances include: Arroyo, Dusty Baker, Jack Billingham, Pedro Borbon, Jeff Brantley,
Marty Brennaman, Tom Browning, Jay Bruce, Leo Cardenas, Clay Carroll, Eric Davis, Billy Hatcher,
Tommy Helms, Brook Jacoby, Lee May, Hal Morris, Ron Oester, Joe Oliver, Brandon Phillips,
and Chris Sabo (Friday only)
The event will be from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Adult tickets are $20 for a two-day pass or $15 for a one-day pass. Tickets for kids age 12 and under are $10 for a two-day pass and $7 for a one-day pass.
Fans are also assured of seeing eight of the Cincinnati area's top Wiffle Ball teams competing in an indoor tournament on Dec. 4; kids' only press conference on both days; Hot Stove reports with Walt Jocketty and Dusty Baker on both days; Reds team awards; the Minor League Player of the Year Award; a "Reds Idol" karaoke contest; performances by the Rusty Griswolds band on Dec. 4 and the Bronson Arroyo Band on Dec. 5; merchandise; collectibles; memorabilia; baseball skill games; displays and information about spring training trips; a reading room where players, coaches and front-office personnel will read stories to kids; the organization's World Championship trophies; a presence by the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum; and sign-ups for the Reds Heads kids' club, which includes four free game tickets for a $20 membership fee.
Another feature of Redsfest will be the fourth annual Reds Community Fund Celebrity Poker Tournament on Dec. 5. The buy-in is $150 through Nov. 20 and then $200 after the pre-registration period. A full-table registration fee is $1,500 and includes nine players plus one Reds celebrity, VIP privileges, and group recognition with signs and a video. Spectator tickets are $25 per person.
A neat feature of the tournament, which has a guaranteed $10,000 for the first-place winner, is that if you knock a Reds celebrity out of the game you get the jersey off his back.
The team is also offering 45 Fast Passes for autograph seekers in an online auction at http://reds.auction.mlb.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=109329517&prmenbr=44223179&aunbr=109676227 for autograph seekers.
