Dossin Great Lakes Museum at Belle Isle
- Live Weather Station & River Web Camera
The Detroit River Watch camera provides, live, user controlled, images of traffic on the Detroit River.
The camera is mounted in the crow's nest Pilothouse at the museum.
Since it's mounted 60ft high, above the waterway, shipping traffic is clearly visible.
Live audio was added to the Webcam with a fixed position directional microphone
in a weather proof housing on the pilothouse roof.
The audio is then streamed across the Internet to a viewers home computer.
Viewers can enjoy the sounds of the river, the crackling of ice, geese honking
and even the occasional blast from a passing ship's whistle.
