California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed two gay rights bills, both sponsored by state Sen. Mark Leno, (D-SF) late Sunday. The first designates May 22nd as "Harvey Milk Day" in the state, a bill that Schwarzenegger vetoed last year. It will not be a state holiday, but memorializes Harvey Milk, assassinated gay rights activist and San Francisco's first openly gay Supervisor. The second bill requires that state of California to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. Both bills were introduced on the eve of the National Equality March in Washington, DC.
