Arizona Department of Education will hold a Participation in the IEP Process workshop on December 1 from 11 am till 1 pm at Woods Memorial Library. This training provides an overview of the purpose of the IEP, who should be a member of the IEP team and attend the meetings; how to prepare for and participate in the IEP process; what to do when you disagree with the proposed program for the student; and how to track progress in the child's program.  This workshop is designed to provide parents with the information and skills they need to actively participate in the Special Education process!

On Thursday, December 3 from 12- 5. We are very fortunate to have the traveling Assistive Technology van in Tucson on Thursday. The van contains numerous AT devices that allow you a hands on opportunity to use the device to see if it might be something that could benefit your child. This is a chance to see and work with many AT devices ranging from low tech to high tech and everything in between. Joyce Palmer, the AT specialist with the Department of Education will be there to answer specific questions you might have.  Stop by and say "Hi" so you can receive any appropriate PINS materials. There will also be some school staff invited to attend the event as well. It may be crowded at certain times, like after school ends, but be patient and allow enough time and they will be
sure to get everyone's questions answered. No RSVP is required for this event.

If you have ever wanted to learn more about Assistive Technology and be able to use and understand how certain devices work, this is your opportunity to do that. This may be the only time in 2009 or 2010 the van is in Tucson. Please take advantage of the opportunity and stop by sometime
between 12 - 5 on Thursday, December 3 at the Flowing Wells District Boardroom.

Come see and play with the newest technology for the classroom!
