Thankfully, another gluten-free friendly restaurant has opened for business in Bend. Northwest Crossing Bar & Grill, on Bend's westside, is co-owned by Chrisalis Stoddard. Chrisalis, who owned the popular Bella Cucina restaurant in Bend which closed it's doors a few months ago, is a Celiac and makes sure there are plenty of gluten-free options on the menu.
While none of the items on the menu are marked "Gluten-Free", they do have plenty to offer. They can do burgers with GF buns, a grilled chicken club sandwich, a bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado sandwich, a veggie sandwich and several different salads. They also try to have at least one GF soup option daily and they can do the kids burger GF. If you're craving fries, make sure you get in early on Saturday. They don't have a GF dedicated fryer, yet (they plan on getting one soon). So, you're best bet for fries is first thing Saturday as they change the oil in the fryer that morning. You do want to double check with them however - I was in on a Saturday a couple weeks ago and they had already run some glutened clam strips through the fryer.
If you find yourself in Bend, it's definitely worth stopping in for lunch or dinner. The prices are reasonable, the service and staff are great and you can feel confident they'll pay close attention to your food and any dietary issues you may have, especially Celiac.
Northwest Crossing Bar & Grill is located at 745 NW Mt. Washington Drive in Bend (map). They can be reached at 541-318-7450. They are open daily 11a-8p.
