Tucked away in the corner of local market Marczyk Fine Foods, is a cute little women-led wine shop that continues to bring winos and thirsty Uptowners back for more. Marczyk isn't just a store. It's a community. And if you arrive in a salty mood, they'll put you right back into a sweet one.

Once a month, the wine shop holds Ladies Only Wine Tastings, which are announced in their monthly e-newsletter. (Sign up for the e-newsletter at the top of the Web site.) From art openings to five course meals at nearby restaurants to weekly events (they grill hamburgers every Friday in the summer), to descriptions of featured foods and wines, the newsletter will keep you in-the-know.

And speaking of keeping up with all things local, I recommend checking out the blog of Marczyk's Fine Wine's very own Ashley.

Called Le Wine Chick, this blog is quite a fun read. The best part, to me, is Ashley's list of things to eat, drink and do in Denver before you die. Are you living it up in Denver? According to Ashley, you may need to step it up a bit.

Le Wine Chick's things to eat, drink and do in Denver before you're dead

  • Friday night burgers at Marczyk Fine Foods with a very large tub of Pete's Mom's potato salad.
  • Take a flying lesson at Jeffco airport and convince the pilot that you are ready to land on your own the first time.
  • Dinner at Fruition with lots of wine and a few good friends!
  • A gondola ride down the Platte River. A little cheesy but, with a little cheese and maybe some wine, pretty romantic.
  • Saturday Salsa dancing at La Rumba and if you can find a yourself a Peruvian with moves to dance with all the better.
  • A midnight showing of American Psycho at the Esquire, preferably with your very own American Psycho in tow.
  • A stroll, with good friend, around Cheesman Park when the lilacs are in full bloom.
  • Lunch out in the backyard of Domo on a warm day.
  • A long, leisure sushi dinner at Sasa with someone who makes you laugh.
  • Drag Queen Brunch at Bump and Grind with the Asiago and scallion scones.
