Women and girls will have no problem finding events geared toward them at the Democratic National Convention. In fact, the plethora of events to choose from is almost intimidating (in a good way, of course). Since the DNC is just around the corner, start planning your schedule -- as you will need to buy tickets or R.S.V.P. for many of the following events. Please note that this is a rough schedule of activities, as some event locations still need to be confirmed. Nonetheless, this is a great list of resources, bios and what to keep your eyes peeled for. Go get 'em, girls!

MONDAY, AUG. 25

Unconventional Women Symposium, 8 a.m.-2p.m. at Buell Theater (For more info or to buy tickets, click here.)
Confirmed Speakers:

- Electing Women Breakfast, 8:30-10:30 a.m., Lime Light Restaurant at the Denver Performing Arts Complex (by invitation only)

- NOW, Feminist Majority, Ms. Magazine Event, 3-5 p.m. at the University Club

- Lifetime Future Frontrunners, late night party (not confirmed)

- Planned Parenthood’s event at the Samba Room, 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. (tentative)


TUESDAY, AUG. 26

DNC Women’s Caucus Meeting/Rally, 10 a.m.-noon at the Convention Center

Emily’s List Gala Reception with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and special guest Michelle Obama, 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Denver Hotel, 1550 Court Place. Registration is required. For more information, go to www.emilyslist.org/convention2008.

The White House Project, Women’s eNews/Women’s Media Center Soundbites and Solutions event, 2-4 p.m. at the Starz Center Theater

The National Woman’s Political Caucus, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Baur's Risorante, 1512 Curtis St.

The White House Project’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, 5-6 p.m. - VIP reception; 6-9 p.m. - General reception at the Denver Newspaper Agency, 101 West Colfax Ave.

ABOUT: Pay tribute to women’s leadership past, present and future. Help celebrate 10 years of advancing women’s leadership and the extraordinary potential of the women in the leadership pipeline. Celebrate and network with friends, alumnae and partners of The White House Project and hear from President and Founder, Marie Wilson.

THURSDAY, AUG. 28

DNC Women’s Caucus Meeting, 10 a.m.-noon, Convention Center

Celebration of Shirley Chisholm and screening of Chisholm ’72: Unbought & Unbossed, 2-4 p.m. at the Denver Newspaper Agency, 101 West Colfax Ave.

ABOUT: Celebrate one of the most inspirational women in the history of American politics. Shirley Chisholm was the first black woman elected to Congress and the first black woman to run for President on a major party ticket. Special guests at the event will include Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Elbra Wedgeworth, President of the Denver Host Committee and Former President of the Denver City Council, Former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb.
