Every year, the Denver Business Journal recognizes some of the most notable women kicking ass in this city's biz scene and the winners of various industries were celebrated at the Outstanding Women in Business Awards Luncheon on Aug. 7. The following women were recognized for their contributions to the community and their leadership skills.

Ritter appoints Windsor woman to district court bench: Gov. Bill Ritter on Friday appointed Dinsmore Tuttle of Windsor as the newest judge in the Weld District Court.

Girls battle for Hillary Clinton: Diehard Hillary Clinton supporters are fighting to get her on the final nominating ballot with presidential hopeful Barack Obama at this month's Democratic convention. The group - Colorado Women Count/Women Vote - is to hold a pro-Clinton parade in Denver on August 26 when the New York senator is set to speak.

Regional scene: Sherlock advances at Women's Amateur: University of Denver junior golfer Stephanie Sherlock won on the 19th hole during the first round of match play at the 108th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in Eugene, Ore.
