The British are back in Boston and this time they brought chocolate! After taking the UK by storm Hotel Chocolat has opened its first US store in Boston at 141A Newbury Street.

Brits Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris are so fussy about what goes into their chocolates that they bought a plantation in St. Lucia where they grow their own cocoa trees and harvest their cocoa beans twice a year.

The aroma of the chocolate wafts up the brick stairs leading to this sleekly designed shop, tantalizing you before you even enter. The shop is very stark, minimalist in design, all the better to see the chocolates. There’s even a glass enclosed private tasting room.

The truffles in flavors of champagne, cointreau, crème caramel and tiramisu are heavenly as are the peanut butter and butterscotch pralines. The scrumptious ganaches filled with maple crème and pecans will put you into a chocolate orbit. To go absolutely nutty sample one of the roasted chocolate dipped Brazil nuts, macadamias or hazelnuts.

Trust me on this I have tasted them all, it was a tough job but someone had to do it.
