Today I am writing my first entry about the goings on in New York... from the beautiful Sonoma Mountains 40 miles north of San Francisco. My profile picture gives a pretty good indication of my current state of mind – calm, peaceful, restful and dreamy. Maybe I should spend more time here, write about nature, the weather, tasting great wine with friends and hiking Tamales Bay. Perhaps someday I will, but right now I am feeling a little tug in my mind. New York is calling – the place where I’ve lived for the past eight years, where I got my MFA from the Actors Studio, where I wrote, acted in and produced dozens of plays, where I live in the great bohemian neighborhood called West Village surrounded by bookstores, cafes, restaurants, theaters and bars. I love California, but New York always pulls me back like a giant magnet. If I could resist it, I probably wouldn't keep coming back -- and I've been doing this back-and-forth from California to NYC since 2000.
So, what's going on in the West Village? Since I'm not yet back, I'll check my calendar remotely via Facebook invites to help me with my first entry.

My friend and theater artist, Ridley Parson is performing "free" Leonard Cohen tunes at The Slaughtered Lamb (in the Dungeon) located at 182 West 4th Street—a bar that is, voila, in Greenwich Village. "Free" sounds pretty good these days, doesn't it?
