Put a little note on your calendar for the entire year. Every last Sunday of the Month, starting with this Sunday, January 25th at 2PM, you can celebrate the works of Edgar Allan Poe with the critically acclaimed RADIOTHEATRE as they present live staged versions of nearly all the major works by Poe. The list includes: The Tell Tale Heart, The Pit and The Pendulum, The House of Usher and The Raven, plus many more. All works are newly adapted with audio for the stage by Dan Bianchi, complete with a great cast of storytellers, special guests, original orchestral scores and a plethora of sound effects.
For more information on RADIOTHEATRE, check out the interview I did with Dan Bianchi on my blog, The Pop Cycle, in the fall of 2008.
Poe’s Life in Greenwich Village:
From 1844-1845, Edgar Allen Poe lived in a small, red brick house at 85 West 3rd Street in Greenwich Village. While residing there with his ailing wife, the hitherto unsuccessful Poe began one of his most significant works - The Cask of Amontillado, and published one of his most enduring works, The Raven.
The house was mostly demolished by New York University’s expansion of its law school facilities through the building of Furman Hall. To read more about the history of the Poe House and NYU click here.
