Patrick a rescued liger that now lives at Tampa's Big Cat Rescue

Did you know that Tampa is home to the largest accredited big cat rescue sanctuary? We have a treasure hiding in our back yard. Next time you are thinking about going to Lowry Park zoo or Busch Garden’s, you have a third option to consider: Tampa’s Big Cat Rescue.

Tampa’s Big Cat Rescue is located at 12802 Easy Street, Tampa FL 33625. They have over 100 cats including tigers, lions, ocelots, cougars, bobcats, leopards and more.

They have several different tours available including a day tour, a kid’s tour and a feeding tour. They will even host your wedding or party. The day tour is $25 per person and children must be over 10 years old. The day tour starts at 9am & 3pm Monday thru Friday and 9:30am, 11:30am and 1:30pm on Saturday. For children under 10 there is a kid’s tour available on Saturday at 9am. The price is $15 per child with a paying adult ($25). For more details and other tours visit: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/tours.htm

Did you know that white tigers can only be born by severe inbreeding that often leads to birth defects and deaths? Or that all white tigers are cross eyed? Visit their website for lots of information and facts: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/news.htm

Big Cat Rescue is foremost a rescue sanctuary. They are devoted to rescuing and providing a permanent home to wild cats that have been bred to be pets, abandoned, abused, or saved from slaughter and performing acts. It is very expensive and difficult to care for large wild cats, so if you would like to volunteer, or make a donation it would be greatly appreciated. They also have several ways on their website that you can donate for free, including a credit card that sends donations to the Big Cat Rescue with each purchase. To donate for free or to make cash donations: http://www.bigcatrescue.org/donate.htm If you have a Facebook account, vote for Big Cat Rescue daily to win $50,000 at http://apps.facebook.com/voteforacause/
