Are you looking for a little culture to start your year off on a different foot? Let me suggest to you a dance team who is an awesome site to behold. One that has the grace of a swan yet contemporary enough to excel above anyones expectations.
The Dallas Black Dance Theatre located in Dallas Texas is whom I am speaking of. The 12 dancer theatre team has traveled worldwide to preform in front of audiences of all ages. In fact over 1.5 million patrons in which 40,000 were children. Dallas Black Dance Theatre is in its 32nd season.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre was founded in 1976 by Ms. Ann Williams, who was inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame in 2002. It is the oldest,continuously operating Pro Dance Company in Dallas Texas. When attending a performance, one will find a repritore of modern, jazz, etchnic and spiritual works by Nationally and Internationally Choreographers such as Alvin Ailey, Talley Beatty and Alonzo King. Among the twelve dancing performers you will find veteran dancer Nycole Ray who is in her 10th season.
Upcoming Performances are on January 16,2009 at 7:30 pm in the Staples Auditorium located on the Hendrix College campus in Conway Arkansas. The Culture Awareness Series will be February the 27th and 28th at the Majestic Thearte located at 1925 Elm Street in Dallas.
Not only does the Theatre perform all over the world, they also have educational programs. They offer everything from Pilates to Ballet with Tap and Yoga included. These classes are offered for both Men, Women and children alike. Beginning to Advanced classes are on the agenda.
