Will video games help debt-ridden college students get through tough financial times?
MtvU has joined with Peter G. Peterson Foundation's Indebted Campaign to help students take charge of their financial future.
In the game players guide a pig, Piggy Banks, on a jet ski through various obstacles to maximize his savings, limit his debt and keep him happy while buying food, housing and other items, with the aim of teaching players how to identify and manage debt.
It's an interesting idea, but personally I'm not quite sure how collecting coins and dodging flying ipods and t.v.'s (consequently reducing my pig's 'happiness' levels!) is going to transfer to real life lessons and help students take charge of their financial lives.
Nevertheless, the Indebted website has quite a few neat tools and informational videos, like a budget application, a "life or debt" quiz, and ways to stay involved and keep up to date the country's financial situation.
