Winter in California is unofficially over. On Sunday we sprang forward to meet our second unlucky Friday the Thirteenth of 2009.   But, don’t think of 2009 as doubly-cursed just because of this.  According to the science that delights in taking logic to the absurd (mathematics): if you multiply two negative numbers, you get a positive number. So, take two unlucky Fridays, put them together, and WHAM, they’re lucky!

Foolproof evidence that our second Friday the Thirteenth of 2009 is a good one:

  1.  It’s the first Friday of the year where we can enjoy the sun after a long day at work.
  2. Coincidently, tomorrow is Saturday and we can finally sleep in.
  3. Flowers and green things are popping out of the ground. Cherry blossoms are good luck.
  4.  St. Patrick’s Day is on the way. 158th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade tomorrow! (Civic Center)
  5.  Pi day comes next (rejoice! lovers of pies and Pi alike). Activities abound around the Bay Area. You can even celebrate Pi Day with a pie-throwing contest
  6.  Didn’t the stock market go up again? 50 points! More good luck.

How can you take advantage of this good fortune?  The simplest thing, find something to do outside. Vampires and certain skin conditions excluded, sunshine is good for you mentally and physically.
